My aviation career began in 1991 after enlisting in the West Virginia Army National Guard. I was a UH-1 Huey helicopter mechanic, crew chief, door gunner, maintenance team leader, maintenance technical inspector, and section sergeant. I spent a total of 12 years serving in the WV Army National Guard, ending my career with an honorable discharge at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In 1994 I enlisted in the WV State Police. While with the WVSP I was stationed in Wayne County as a Field Trooper, a Traffic Accident Reconstructionist, and a Training Officer, Troop 5 Headquarters in Logan, WV as a cold case/unsolved murder investigator, Lincoln County as a Detachment Sergeant/Detachment Commander, Aviation Division as a pilot, flight instructor, night vision goggle flight instructor, and the Director of the State Police Aviation Division.
I retired from the WV State Police in 2023 at the rank of First Lieutenant after over 28 years of service. After retirement I began flying helicopters for a utility company covering an area from New York to the Gulf of Mexico.
In late September 2024 I was appointed to the position of Director of the State Aviation Division. I am both honored and humbled by this opportunity to be trusted with the State of West Virginia’s Aviation Fleet and personnel. The Aviation Division has a solid fleet of aircraft and an amazing staff, all of whom are dedicated to safety and service to the citizens of this great state.
